At the end of 2022, I received an email from Martin Bridge. He (very helpfully) pointed out some problems with the website, but also mentioned his father Rodney, a former member of the club. I have completely rebuilt the site, so the technical problems should be sorted.

I  understand that you run the Northwood Wheelers website. My father (Rodney Bridge) was a member in the '50s and, while talking to him on the phone, we were amazed to see his name on a newsletter as the handicap winner of a 25 mile race!

I would really like to see more, but the website seems to have problems - when clicking on a page the site fails to load the individual page, then the whole site seems to be unavailable for a while after.

It would be good to be in touch and get my dad some more info, especially the copies of the original newsletters which look great.  Dad even dug out some old Northwood medals while I was on the phone just now!

In a follow-up email, he added:

Thanks for the reply. I must admit It was a happy surprise to find the Northwood Wheelers online. I just happened to be talking to dad while at my desk so started searching as we were talking about his cycle racing days. I found the site and clicked on a newsletter at random, and on the page in the middle of the image thumb nails I could see “R BRIDGE”.  “You’ll never gets what” I said to dad. It was amazing.

It’s the 18th may 1954 edition - Dad would have been 20, known as Rod. Thanks for offering to send that [a copy of the newsletter file], it would be really nice.

Later, Martin sent over scans of a Northwood Wheelers medal Rod Bridge was awarded in the 1954 Northwood Wheelers Hill Climb Championship.
